The Top 4 Cherry Blossom spots in Seoul

Cherry Blossom in South Korea attracts Koreans and foreigners alike.

The annual masses that head to Jamsil to enjoy the magical blossom surrounding the Seokchon Lake, Gangnam and Yeouido’s Cherry Blossom Festival are certainly crowd-pleasers in the heart of Seoul.

Let’s start the Cherry Blossom journey at Bongeunsa Temple (봉은사)

Bongeunsa Temple is just a short walk from Starfield CoEx a well known shopping mall in the heart of Gangnam. It is home to the Starfield Library which was designed by the Gensler firm.

The temple itself was designed in 794 during the reign of King Wonseong by the then State Precepto Yeonhoe who was held in regard as the most senior monk of Silla.

The temple sits on the side of Sudo Mountain that overlooks the modern day CoEx mall complex.

For more information.

Seoul Forest (서울숲공원) is the third largest park in Seoul.

It is well known for the major development plan in creating the now iconic park, costing around 235.2 billion Korean won.

The surrounding area is well known for being home to a wide range of coffee shops, restaurants and universities – not to forget a few exclusive shopping districts and even homes to the rich and famous!

The Seoul subway system serves the park well, with easy access from Ttukseom Station (Line 2) exit 8 or take the Bundang Line to Seoul Forest Station.

Take the opportunity to visit KeyCoffee for a lovely atmosphere and delicious coffee.

Jamsil (잠실) is home to the famous LotteTower and Seokchon Lake Park – an automatic location for Cherry Blossom, of course!

The Cherry Blossom Festival at Seokchon Lake is certainly an annual event. It was shifted to an online event during the hardest spring during the pandemic.

Like LotteTower, the lake is well served by the metro – head to Jamsil!

Seoul Trip Walk – Yeouido

Find a good coffee

During the Cherry Blossom season, there is always a need for a good cup of joe! Take time to explore options on this blog.

If you are visiting Jamsil then take a look at our blog on places to visit – here

If you are in Yeouido, the obvious choice is 남대문커피 여의도점 Namdaemun Coffee, Yeouido which is only a short walk from the National Assembly Station 780 Gukhoe-daero, Yeoeuido-dong.

There are certainly many other options including Blue Bottle Coffee and Starbucks.

Another option is take a walk over the river and discovering Mapo-Gongdeok which is certainly an easy walk (or cycle) and let’s you capture the Han River.

We would suggest the lovely Starbucks just off the main street 295, Tojeong-ro, Mapo-gu – 서울특별시 마포구 토정로 295 (용강동) – as the store is larger and spacious – surprisingly quieter as it is in a more residential area.

And, we lied… we have one more spot for you to check out for Cherry Blossom – yes, Gongdeok – check out this video
