As June 2023 draws to an end, they took the stage at Toronto’s Lula Lounge and captivate audiences with their raucous, danceable energy.
Formed in 2015 during the 70th anniversary of Korea’s national liberation, ADG7, also known as Ak Dan Gwang Chil, are on a mission to revive and celebrate the rich tapestry of Korean cultural heritage.
Drawing inspiration from the newly reclaimed Korean folk styles of gut and minyo, they breathe new life into these traditional genres. Symbolizing both liberation and a yearning for unity, ADG7’s music serves as a bridge between the past and the present, preserving and reinventing Korea’s musical heritage.
What sets ADG7 apart from other Korean acts is their fusion of traditional Korean instrumentation with the more contemporary Eurocentric styles of modern K-Pop.
